About the artist:
Susan Gallo grew up in a home influenced by the arts of painting, photography, and stained glass. Her uncle was an illustrator for several popular science fiction magazines in the 1930's and 1940's, and her father was a professional photographer and also a stained glass designer for the homes in the California community where she lived as a child.
As an adult she painted primarily in the medium of watercolor, but in college where she received her B.A. in art, she gravitated in the direction of printmaking, and more specifically etchings and linoleum block printing. She worked in this medium for several years, exhibiting and winning various awards, but she is most proud of her prints in the permanent print collection at the Riverside Art Museum in California.
Fine Art Originals, Prints, & Pet Portraits
She also became interested in creating gourd sculptures, and designed fascinating and unusual Art Nouveau vessels in acrylics and woodburning which were influenced by her father's artwork in stained glass. These pieces have won several awards as well.
Over the years she has had many commissions to paint murals for homes and offices in the community of Temecula where she now lives with her husband, Sam, but since retiring in 2005 she has devoted herself to acrylic paintings on canvas, commissioned portraits of people and pets, teaching art to children, and art coaching.
Several of her paintings can be seen on the Wilson Creek Winery restauant walls in Temecula's wine country.
